Banff 21-year-old (D.1982, B.2004) Rare Malts / 57.1% / 0.7l
- The historic, first official bottling of Banff single malt released twenty years after the distillery ceased operations.
Product description
Bottle No. 2906, 2917
The first official Banff edition, released 20 years after the distillery closed.
In the 1980s, Scotland experienced a huge overproduction of whisky, and the small, somewhat outdated distilleries had no chance of survival. Banff stopped distilling in 1983, and two years later its buildings were razed to the ground. The whisky presented here is part of the extremely prestigious Rare Malts edition , so sought after by collectors.
Aroma: lots of floral notes, dried flowers, hay, apple pie, orange peel, all wrapped in the smoke of a camping fire.
Taste: an unusual combination of peanut butter, roasted chestnuts, lemongrass and a hint of dry sherry.
Finish : medium long, sweet vanilla, oak and traces of peat smoke.
