Bottle No. 2906, 2917
The historic, first official bottling of Banff single malt released twenty years after the distillery ceased operations.
In the 1980s Scotch industry suffered from overproduction and small and inefficient Banff Distillery had no chance for survival. It was closed in 1983 and buildings were demolished a couple of years later. In the 21st Century Banff bottlings became very scarce, the expression presented here was a part of the exclusive Rare Malts series. Whisky was bottled unchill-filtered at natural strength of 57.1% abv.
Nose: floral, dried flowers, hay, apple pie and orange zest with campfire smokes in the background.
Palate: peanut butter, roasted chestnuts, lemon grass and traces of dry sherry.
Finish: medium long, vanilla sweetness, oaky dryness and distant smokiness
