Four Roses is one of the most recognizable bourbons today, and it's hard to believe that throughout the second half of the 20th century, this brand, then owned by Seagram,
It combined traditional bourbon (for export and duty-free shops) and American blended whiskey aimed at the local market. In 2001, the distillery was taken over by the Japanese company Kirin, which meant a departure from blended whiskey. The "father" of Four Roses Single Barrel was long-time Seagram master distiller Jim Rutledge. The drink debuted at the end of the last century and was originally intended exclusively for export. Our bottle comes from barrel no. 8-5Q aged in the RN warehouse. The plant uses two mash formulas, whiskeys selected for the single barrel edition are distilled from 60% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley.
Nose : soft, bouquet of wild flowers, honey, vanilla pudding, toffee, peaches, a touch of cinnamon and subtle notes of oak.
Taste : mild and pleasantly balanced, vanilla, caramel, milk fudge, honey, a touch of licorice and cinnamon and well-integrated oak.
Finish : quite long, with notes of vanilla, honey, caramel, cloves, cinnamon, white pepper and toasted oak.
