The Macallan "Diamonds are Forever 55th Anniversary" is a unique, limited edition created as a tribute to one of the most iconic installments of Agent 007's adventures.The whisky was distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years, combining the distillery's classic heritage with a bold, innovative approach to maturation.
This is one of the few editions in the history of The Macallan, which - in addition to traditional sherry casks - also used red wine casks.This non-coincidental choice is a direct reference to the film "Diamonds are Forever" and James Bond's love of refined liquors.The result is a whisky with a multifaceted, complex profile, in which the classic depth of sherry meets a new interpretation of fruitiness and structure.
Whisky Master Russel Greig is responsible for the composition, having designed unique hybrid barrels made from staves of European and American oak.This arrangement reflects both the film's narrative and the locations associated with the film's production - Europe and the United States - underscoring the innovative nature of this release.
No less impressive is the visuals themselves.The label and bottle tube provide a journey behind the scenes of the making of the film - containing m.in.a frame with a satellite powered by diamonds, an excerpt from a Japanese promotional poster, and references to the script and iconic characters such as Blofeld's white cat.This is a collector's detail that makes this edition a true "diamond" in the brand's portfolio.
