Product description
Champagne house Laurent-Perrier is one of Champagne's most elegant and recognizable producers. Its history dates back to 1812, when Alphonse Pierlot acquired the first plots of vines in Tours-sur-Marne.In the following decades, the estate passed from hand to hand, until the figure of Mathilde Perrier, the widow of Eugène Laurent, who gave the house its present name and elevated it to a level of prestige, took on particular importance.
The real heyday, however, came after World War II, when Bernard de Nonancourt made Laurent-Perrier one of Champagne's most important family wineries. It was he who introduced the style that still defines the brand today: purity, elegance and the dominance of the Chardonnay varietal, giving the wines freshness and finesse.
Laurent-Perrier's vineyards today extend over 100 hectares of its own parcels and hundreds of additional parcels of cooperating growers. In total, the house uses the fruit of more than 300 habitats, including many classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, which allows it to create wines of extraordinary consistency of style and quality.
It is interesting to note that Laurent-Perrier was among the pioneers of the modern approach to champagne - he introduced m.in.brut nature style, and refreshed the category of pink champagne using the saignée method, which was a real revolution in its time.
Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Brut is the house's basic but highly refined label - a showcase of its style. It is created from a classic coupage of three varietals: Chardonnay (about 50-60%), Pinot Noir (30-35%) and Pinot Meunier (10-20%).
The wine is composed from fruit sourced from more than a hundred of Champagne's best habitats, and further enriched with reserve wines to ensure its repeatability and depth.
The production process is based on the traditional Champagne method, and maturation on the lees takes much longer than the required minimum - about 48 months. It is this long contact with the yeast that is responsible for the elegance, creaminess and subtle complexity of the drink.
