Product description
Brand history Conte di Campiano is associated with an Italian company Contri Spumanti, whose origins date back to the mid-20th century. The founder of the company was Luciano Contri, who started the wine business in 1959 in the village of Cazzano di Tramigna near Verona in the Veneto region. Over time, the company developed into a modern enterprise producing various styles of Italian wines, and the Conte di Campiano brand was created as a line of wines inspired by the south of Italy - especially sunny Puglia.
The legend associated with the name "Campiano" tells of a former count who, while traversing these lands, stopped among the hills and became enthralled by their landscape - bright roads, small house roofs and vast farmlands. According to a local story, from then on the area began to be called "Campiano country".
Although the company has roots in northern Italy, many of the brand's wines are made from grapes from Apulia (Puglia) - A region in the south of the country that is famous for its intense, richly flavored red wines. Puglia is one of Italy's sunniest wine regions. The Mediterranean climate, hot summers and the influence of the Adriatic breeze are conducive to wines with high fruit concentration and ripe tannins. The soils here are often calcareous or clayey, which favors varieties such as Negroamaro, Primitivo and Nero di Troia.
It is interesting to note that the producer has won many international awards in wine competitions, m.in. w Berlin Wine Trophy or Asia Wine Trophy, which confirms its position in the Italian wine market.
Conte di Campiano Appassimento comes from the region of IGT Salento in Puglia and is produced entirely from a strain of Negroamaro.
Wine is made using the technique appassimento, involving partial drying of grapes prior to fermentation. This increases the concentration of sugar, extract and flavors in the berries. This method has been used for centuries in Italy, especially in the production of wines with deep structure and rich character. For this wine, the grapes undergo a concentration process after harvesting, followed by fermentation, resulting in an intense and velvety red wine.
After fermentation, the wine matures about 4 months in barrels, which helps to smooth out the tannins and give the liquor more harmony and subtle notes of maturation.
Appearance: deep ruby color with delicate orange reflections, indicating concentration of extract and light maturation.
Aroma: an intense and complex bouquet of ripe fruits, dominated by plums, cherries and dried fruits, complemented by notes of herbs, spices, dark chocolate and subtle hints of cocoa.
Taste: full-bodied, smooth and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and clear concentration of fruit. The wine is harmonious, with a slight hint of bitterness and a long, warm finish in which hints of plum, chocolate and spice return.
Culinary Connections: pairs well with red meat, grilled beef, game, dishes with tomato sauces, spicy pastas and hard and long-ripened cheeses.
