Product description
Ichiro Akuto's Chichibu Distillery began operation in the spring of 2008 and was the first Japanese distillery built in the new millennium.
The Akuto family produced whisky from 1946 to 2000 at the Hanyu Distillery. After its closure, Ichiro took over the remaining 400 barrels of whisky, which he soon released as Ichiro's Card Series. The "Card Series" turned out to be a hit on the market, and also provided the capital to build Chichibu. Its collector's value is constantly growing, in August 2019, at an auction in Hong Kong, it found a buyer for $917,000. Double Distilleries is a blend of Hanyu and Chichibu single malts, with a higher percentage of the latter. We heard that Hanyu whisky was aged in sherry barrels, while Chichibu in barrels made of Japanese Mizunara oak.
