Product description
Weller is one of handful of wheated bourbons currently on the market and probably the first one distilled from mash containing wheat instead of rye.
William LaRue Weller entered whiskey trade with his brother in 1849 using slogan “Honest whiskey at an honest price”. In 1893 the company hired 19 years old salesman, Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. Until 1992 Weller bourbon was produced in Stitzel-Weller Distillery, in 1999 the brand was purchased by Sazerac Company, which moved production to Buffalo Trace Distillery. The whiskey is distilled from mash of 75% corn, 20% wheat and 5% malted barley, the same as famous Pappy Van Winkle. W.L. Weller Special Reserve doesn’t carry age statement, is comprises whiskeys aged from 4 to 7 years.
