Glengoyne's official beginnings date back to 1833, when the Burnfoot Distillery was registered (the name Glengoyne has been in use since 1907).
However, as early as 1820, George Connell was distilling whisky at Burnfoot Farm – one of thirteen moonshiners in the area and the only one whose business survived into the 21st century. Since 2013, Glengoyne has been owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, which has invested heavily in high-quality sherry casks. Glengoyne Cask Strength debuted in 2012 and replaced the 12-year-old version. The Batch #010 presented here was released in the summer of 2023. It is a blend of sherry casks (about 2/3), refill casks and a small number of bourbon casks.
