Whack for my daddy-o
There’s whiskey in the jar-o – sang Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott in 1973.
This old Irish folk song of unknown origins put the struggling band (formed in 1969) into the rock & roll super-groups.
Phil Lynott died in January 1986 at the age of 36 after battling alcohol and drug dependency. Over 35 years later, two band members, guitarist Scott Gorham and drummer Brian Downey, and the family of Phil Lynott, his wife Caroline, and daughters Sarah and Cathleen, collaborated with West Cork Distillers to develop the Thin Lizzy whiskey brand. The whiskey is a blend of malt and grain whiskeys aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in double-charred oak casks. The label was created by Jim Fitzpatrick, who designed many of Thin Lizzy's album covers.
