Product description
Beefeater gin, the creation of James Burrough, debuted in 1876. Burrough, a pharmacist by training, purchased John Taylor's Gin Distillery in 1862 and began experimenting with botanicals and fruits.
The name Beefeater refers to the Yeomen Warders, ceremonial guards of the Tower of London, commonly known as Beefeaters. Since 2005, Beefeater gin has been in the portfolio of the French company Pernod Ricard, which acquired it from Allied Domecq. Global annual sales of Beefeater currently amount to 3.8 million cases (2022), which guarantees it the fourth position in the gin sales statistics. Beefeater Crown Jewel debuted in 1993 and remained in the offer until 2009. Six years later it returned to the market in a slightly different presentation, and the latest incarnation presented here was officially presented on November 10, 2022. Its formula lists 9 Beefeater botanicals: juniper berries, lemon peel, Seville orange peel, almonds, coriander seeds, orris and licorice roots, angelica seeds and root, and grapefruit peel. Crown Jewel is bottled at 50% ABV and experiences limited supply.
Beefeater Crown Jewel is an incredibly complex and perfectly balanced gin combining notes of juniper, pine needles and zesty orange and grapefruit with spicy and floral tones (violets). This gin is definitely worth tasting neat or with premium tonic water with lime or grapefruit.
