Product description
Mackmyra, the first Swedish whisky distillery, is an investment by eight graduates of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
The distillery was established in 1999, and 10 years later the company began building a new facility in Gävle, where all distillation has been taking place since 2013; in turn, since 2017, the original distillery has served as the company's research laboratory. Mackmyra Limousin is one of the company's latest offerings (2022). The Limousin district is famous for its oak forests, which provide one of the best building blocks for barrels for maturing distillates. The edition presented here was mainly made of Ferrand cognac barrels (about 40% first fill) and Oloroso sherry barrels and barrels from raspberry and cherry wine. A small share also went to American oak bourbon barrels. The edition consisted of 16,000 bottles.
