Product description
Blend The Antiquary debuted in 1888, composed by brothers John and William Hardie.
The Hardie family traded in tea, wine and spirits, and began blending whisky around 1885. The name "The Antiquary" refers to a novel by Walter Scott (Polish title "Antykwariusz"), set in Edinburgh. In 1917, the Hardies sold the rights to the brand to J&G Stewart, which was soon taken over by DCL. In the 1980s, The Antiquary enjoyed success in Western Europe, South America and Japan; in 1996, it became the property of Tomatin Distillery. Its malt core is currently Tomatin, supplemented by whiskies from Speyside, the Highlands, the Lowlands and, to a small extent, Islay. In the 15-year-old version presented here, the main role was played by whiskies aged in red Bordeaux barrels. The edition consisted of 6,000 bottles.
