Product description
Ammunition whiskey debuted in 2021 from California-based Daylight Wine & Spirits.
The company was founded in 2011 and initially focused on wine, with its distilled beverages division joining six years later. The Ammunition Straight Bourbon on display here is a bit of an unusual offering. Distilled at MGP Indiana from a mash of 60% corn, 25% wheat, 10% rye and 5% malted barley, the whiskey was aged for two to four years in new, charred American oak barrels, then finished for at least three months in barrels from Daylight Wine & Spirits’ own Cabernet Sauvignon. We’re not sure if the mash formula was developed specifically for Daylight Wine & Spirits or if it’s a combination of MGP’s rye and wheat bourbons.
Nose : caramel, vanilla, black cherries, meat cranberries, roasted peanuts, cloves, cinnamon, hints of licorice and charred oak.
Palate : wine, honey, vanilla, cherry jam, dried apricots, dark grapes, nougat, lemongrass, cinnamon, mint leaf and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, maple syrup, caramel, dark fruits, licorice, cloves and oak.
