Penderyn single malt debuted on 1 March 2004, the feast day of St. David, the patron saint of the Welsh, and the ceremony was attended by Charles, Prince of Wales.
Over the years, the brand has won many international awards, both for its taste and unique presentation. In 2013-2014, the plant underwent a costly expansion that cost a million pounds and increased its production capacity from 90 to 300 thousand liters of distillate per year, and in 2021, the owners opened a new distillery in Llandudno, North Wales. Penderyn has been experimenting with different types of barrels for years, the result of one of the latest is the Small Batch edition from 2022 presented here. The whisky was aged in Jack Daniel's Rye Whiskey barrels and bottled at 50%. 2050 bottles went on sale.
Nose: green apples, vanilla, caramel, honey, milk fudge, buttered toast, cinnamon, cloves, mint leaf and a trace of oak shavings.
Taste: quite spicy, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, nutmeg, white pepper, ginger, lemon peel, notes of vanilla and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of breakfast cereal, vanilla, cinnamon, white pepper and a touch of ginger.
