Product description
The Glenfarclas (which translates from Gaelic to “Valley of the Green Grass”) distillery was built in 1836 by Robert Hay.
It has been owned by the Grant family since 1865 and is one of the last Scottish distilleries with a cult status to remain in private hands. For years, the Grants have been tempted by lucrative offers to buy it, so far without success. The company has a strict policy of maturing its spirits – rejecting fresh bourbon casks and investing a considerable amount in sherry casks. The Glenfarclas presented here, distilled in 1961, was aged in three first-fill Oloroso sherry casks (No. 1, 1319 and 1321) and bottled at 45.4% abv on 7th February 2008 in the prestigious Premium Casks series. This limited edition (458 bottles) was intended for the German market.
