Product description
Penny Blue is a story of a simple mistake that resulted in the creation of one of the rarest and most valuable post stamps. Its image can be found on each label of the rum distilled at Medine Distillery in Mauritius.
It is meant to stand for the uniqueness and value of the spirits contained therein. The rum is manufactured at the Medine Distillery, made from the local sugar cane – both fresh cane juice and molasses – undergoes slow fermentation and then is distilled in both pot and column stills. The maturation is performed in oak casks that previously held Cognac, Scotch whisky or bourbon.
Penny Blue XO is the seventh batch of rums released in small, strictly limited batches. It is a blend of rums made from molasses, matured in barrels that previously held Scotch whisky, Cognac and sherry. Only 6000 bottles were released.
Nose: Intensive notes of tropical fruits, treacle toffee, oak and delicate spices.
Palate: Sophisticated and complex, with fruits, oak and spices.
