Product description
The patron saint of the bourbon presented here is George Remus, originally a pharmacist from Cincinnati who earned the nickname "The King of the Bootleggers" during Prohibition.
The bourbon is produced by MGP Ingredients at its distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana (MGP bought the rights to the brand from Queen City Whiskey Co. in 2016). MGP Ingredients was founded in 1941, purchased the distillery in 2011 (the largest in the country, with a production capacity of over 100 million liters of distillate per year), and in 2021 acquired Luxco Inc. and its so-called "brand portfolio." That year, the distillery returned to its original name, Ross & Squibb Distillery. George Remus is a blend of high-rye bourbons (MGP uses five mash bills) aged for at least four years and bottled in small batches at 47% abv and without chill filtration.
