- Jura Distillery was built on the namesake island in 1810.
Product description
The Jura Distillery, built in 1810, was unsuccessful for over 150 years. In 1901, the distilling equipment was removed and it was not until 60 years later that it was rebuilt and re-equipped that distilling resumed.
Since 1993, it has been owned by Whyte & Mackay and produces over 2 million litres of distillate annually. The Jura presented here, distilled in April 2011, spent over eight years in a refilled bourbon cask (DL 13792), and was bottled in January 2020 at 46% abv by Douglas Laing & Co in the Provenance series, in an edition of 323 bottles. Whiskies from the Douglas Laing & Co. offer are bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration. In 2020, Jura was the most popular single malt in the British Isles, ahead of Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie.
