Product description
Glentauchers Distillery was built in 1897 by James Buchanan and WP Lowrie to secure a regular supply of malt distillate for the blends they were blending.
Buchanan bought out his partner in 1906, and less than 10 years later merged the business with John Dewar & Sons, and for years afterwards Glentauchers remained one of the main components of Buchanan's and Dewar's blends. Since 2005, the plant has been owned by Chivas Bros. and produces mainly for Ballantine's blends. The Glentauchers presented here, distilled in June 2011, spent over eight years in a refill butt (DL 13898) and was bottled in February 2020 at 46% abv by Douglas Laing & Co in the Provenance series in an edition of 423 bottles. The whiskies from the Douglas Laing & Co. offer are bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration.
