Product description
The name Craigellachie translates from Gaelic to “rocky hill”.
The distillery began distilling in 1891, and its main task was to supply malt distillate for the White Horse blend, a creation of Peter Mackie, one of the owners of Craigellachie. Since 1998, the plant has been owned by Bacardi, which bought it from United Distillers along with the rights to Dewar's blends, of which Craigellachie is now a key component; in turn, Craigellachie single malt records sales of around 150,000 bottles a year. The whisky presented here, distilled in September 2010, spent 12 years in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 16488, and was bottled at 48.4% abv in the Douglas Laing's Old Particular series in September 2022. The edition consisted of 309 bottles.
