The Strathmill Distillery was built in 1891 and for the first four years used the name Glenisla-Glenlivet Distillery.
Currently owned by Diageo, it has two pairs of stills and can produce over 2.5 million liters of distillate per year, the vast majority of which goes to the group's blends, mainly J&B, of which Strathmill is a key component. The whisky presented here, distilled in July 2007, spent over 12 years in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 13782. In February 2020, it was included in the Douglas Laing's Old Particular series, bottled at 48.4% abv. 333 bottles went on sale. Douglas Laing & Co. whiskies are offered with a natural color and without chill filtration.
Nose: toasted grains, vanilla, brown sugar, buttered toast, green apples, mirabelle plums, lime jam, notes of cinnamon, ginger and toasted oak.
Palate : sweet breakfast cereals, heather honey, vanilla pudding, sugared peanuts, pears, sweetened lime juice, white pepper and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, graham cracker, apples, lemon peel, pepper and oak tannins.
