Product description
In 1923, the Walker company purchased the distillery and made Mortlach the key malt in the Black Label formula.
The distillery was still active during World War II, and Mortlach vintages from the 1940s are among the most collectible whiskies. Today, the distillery is owned by Diageo and, with seven stills, can produce 3.8 million litres of spirit per year. Mortlach is increasingly available from independent publishers. The one shown here, distilled in March 2009, spent over a decade in a refill hogshead cask no. 13511, and was bottled at 48.4% abv, unchill-filtered, in Douglas Laing's Old Particular series in August 2019. The run consisted of 382 bottles.
