Product description
In his book Whisky Rising, Stefan van Eyken describes the story of the founding of Suntory Torys.
During World War I, in which Japan was not seriously involved, Shinjiro Torii filled an old wine barrel with distillate intended for blending. He soon forgot about the fact and only found the barrel several years later during a routine warehouse check. Its contents were released in 1919 as Torys and sold out in a flash. Today's Torys whisky is a standard blend bottled for the local market at 37% abv (Classic) and for export at 40% (Extra). In Japan, it is one of the most popular highball whiskies, and its delicate palette allows it to be served with almost any meal.
