Product description
Seagram is a reminder of the golden years of Canadian whiskey, which occurred during American Prohibition and the years immediately following its repeal.
The company was founded in 1883 by Joseph E. Seagram after previously purchasing the Waterloo Distillery. His whiskeys, especially Seagram's VO, brought him enormous popularity overseas. In 1928, the company and its whiskey supplies were taken over by Samuel Bronfman, and by the end of the century it was the world's second largest producer of alcoholic beverages after Diageo. In 2001, its alcoholic assets were purchased by Pernod Ricard and Diageo for $8.15 billion. Since 2019, the Seagram's brand has been owned by the Sazerac Company of New Orleans, and the whiskey itself is a standard American blend made with at least 20% straight whiskey, with the rest being grain alcohol.
