Product description
Glen Moray Distillery began in 1897 in former brewery buildings near Elgin.
Already in 1910 it went bankrupt and was soon taken over by Macdonald & Muir, the owner of Glenmorangie. The year 1958 brought a major renovation and the replacement of the traditional malt house with the so-called Saladin Box. The Glen Moray presented here comes from a distillery that was very different from today - equipped with one pair of stills (currently the plant has 9 of them) it produced whisky from its own malt. Its production potential at that time was about 10% of today's (currently it is 6.5 million liters per year). Glen Moray Rare Vintage 1959 was aged for four long decades and bottled in February 1999 in an edition of only 400 bottles.

Palate: sweet bread, salted caramel, raisins, gooseberries, rosehip jam, grilled asparagus, herbal tea, mulled wine spice and oak tannins.
Finish : medium long, oaky, with notes of dried dark fruit, caramel, roasted nuts and herbs.
