Product description
The Laphroaig distillery was built in 1815 by brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston.
Until 1954 the distillery remained in the ownership of the founding family (Johnston/Hunter). The last of the family, Ian Hunter, doubled its production capacity and significantly increased exports of whisky. When he died without children in 1954, Laphroaig Distillery (in accordance with his will) passed into the management of Bessie Williamson, the first woman to hold the position of distillery manager in Scotland. The whisky presented here, the 1973 distillation, was personally selected by Ernesto Mainardi and included in the Sestante Collection after 13 years of maturation. At that time, Laphroaig Distillery was owned by the Seager Evans Company.
