Product description
In 1944, Oscar Getz purchased Mattingly & Moore Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Soon he introduced several new "brands" to the market, including Very Old Barton and Kentucky Gentleman. The latter was available only in the South and served in local bars as a so-called "well bourbon" (equivalent to "house wine"). Sazerac Company of New Orleans acquired Barton Distillery in 2009 and changed the formula of Kentucky Gentleman. It is no longer a "straight bourbon" but a blend of bourbon (51%) and "highest quality grain distillate (49%)", which practically places the brand in the blended bourbon category. The year 1879 mentioned on the label refers to the birth of Mattingly & Moore Distillery, in our opinion.
