Spade & Bushel 14-year-old Irish Single Malt Whiskey Finished in Sweet Marsala Wine Barrels / 45% / 0.7l

Spade & Bushel whiskey debuted in 2020 from Connacht Distillery Company. Connacht Distillery was established in 2014 and is based in Belleek, Ballina, Co. Mayo.

It is equipped with three stills designed by one of the founders, Robert Cassell, and can produce around 300,000 liters of distillate per year. In April 2016, the distillery distilled for the first time, and since 2017 it has been using a triple distillation system. The Spade & Bushel presented here is a single malt whiskey from an undisclosed Irish distillery, aged in American oak barrels for 12 years and finished for another two years in Sicilian Marsala barrels. The edition consisted of 2,100 bottles and hit the market in 2020.

Nose : tangerines and oranges, pears, ripe grapes, milk fudge, marzipan, vanilla, nutmeg, notes of toasted grains and oak.

Palate: blood oranges, raspberries, cherries, red apples, pralines, vanilla, nougat, nutmeg, white pepper and oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of red berries, orange peel, vanilla, white pepper and a light oak bitterness.
