Product description
In 2012, after more than a hundred years, Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, welcomed a new producer of malt whisky.
Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012 by Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall. The distillery, equipped with three stills (the fourth is used for gin production), first distilled in March 2015 and three years later debuted Glasgow 1770 single malt. The year 1770 refers to the Dundashill Distillery, which operated nearby from 1770 to 1902. The distillery distills from both peated and phenol-free malted barley and uses triple distillation for one month of the year. The Glasgow 1770 The Original presented here was aged in bourbon barrels and finished in virgin oak casks. In 2019, the whisky won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
