In late spring of 2018 Inver House Distillers introduced new range of Old Pulteney single malts. The year before they discontinued 17 and 21 years old expressions due to stock shortages.
The new core range features 12, 15, 18 year olds and the NAS expression Huddart. Old Pulteney 25 years old, which was once part of the core range, will become a limited edition. The 15 years old expression has been matured in second fill American oak casks and first fill ex-bourbon barrels and finished for several months in first fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts. Pulteney Distillery is equipped with a single pair of stills and produces 1.6 million liters of spirit per annum.
Nose: well balanced, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, sultanas, dried apricots, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, salted pretzels and hints of dried flowers.
Palate: Christmas cake, toffee, milk chocolate, honey, pineapples, hints of cinnamon and cloves, whiffs of sea breeze and delicate oaky notes.
Finish: long and pretty spicy, with notes of cinnamon, white pepper, vanilla, milk chocolate and a dash of salt.
