Product description
Glen Scotia Distillery began distilling in 1832. The frequent change of owners is believed by some to be due to the ghost of one of their number, Duncan MacCallum, who drowned in the waters of Campbeltown Loch.
Glen Scotia suffered from production disruptions and a lack of proper maintenance of its equipment and buildings during the 20th century. In 2014, the distillery was acquired by private equity group Exponent, which invested heavily in modernization and the development of an attractive commercial offer, only to sell the distillery to Hillside Management of Hong Kong just five years later. The Double Cask edition debuted in 2015. The whisky was aged in refill casks and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and fresh bourbon casks.
