Product description
Rosebank is, in our opinion, the third most lamented victim (after Brora and Port Ellen) of the whisky crisis of the late 20th century.
The plant ceased production in June 1993, and less than a decade later Diageo sold the site to British Waterways. To the surprise of many, in 2017 Ian Macleod Distillers bought the Rosebank, along with the brand rights and remaining stock, from a run-down site and announced that it would resume distilling. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has delayed the renovations, and production will not resume until 2023. In the meantime, Ian Macleod has released several limited editions, the latest of which (2022) is the 31-year-old presented here, featuring whisky distilled a few years before it closed. (Official tasting note.)
Nose : citrus explosion, limes, lemongrass and coriander seeds, cloves, sugar-roasted almonds and a delicate note of vanilla.
Taste : surprisingly fresh, despite its age, mint, chamomile, traces of leather, berries and banana cake.
Finish : sweet, with notes of peaches, oak and a herbal blend.
