Craigellachie Distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside, on a hilltop overlooking the confluence of two rivers, the Fiddich and Spey.
The plant is equipped with two pairs of stills and can produce over 4 million liters of alcohol per year. Currently, Craigellachie belongs to John Dewar & Sons, a subsidiary of the Bacardi Martini concern. Traditionally, the local whisky was associated with the White Horse brand, recently it is one of the main components of Dewar's blends. The Craigellachie presented here, distilled in January 2009, spent 10 years in a refill hogshead cask no. DL 13078. Bottled at 46% abv and without cold filtration in February 2019 in the Douglas Laing's Provenance series in an edition of 1407 bottles with a capacity of 200ml.
Aroma : barley malt, caramel, toffee, vanilla, green apples, baked plantains, white pepper, notes of cinnamon and oak.
Palate: vanilla ice cream, honey cereal, cappuccino, banana cake, apples, pears, a pinch of spices and light oak notes.
Finish: medium long, with notes of breakfast cereal, vanilla, brown sugar, white chocolate, cinnamon and oak.
