Product description

Yellow Rose Distillery was founded by Ryan Baird, Troy Smith and Randy Whitaker in Houston, Texas in 2010.

The name of the distillery brings legend of Yellow Rose of Texas, a black woman named Emily West, who used her charm to seduce the Mexican general Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and helped the Texan army to win the battle of Jan Jacinto in 1836. Yellow Rose Straight Rye is a sourced whiskey, distilled from mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley in MGP Indiana and aged in charred white American oak barrels. It is bottled at 90 proof (45% abv) in Texas in small batches. In 2013 Yellow Rose Texas Rye scored double gold medal at New York Wine & Spirits Competition.

Nose: vanilla, brown sugar, rye bread, hints of hay and pine cones, touches of ginger and charred oak.

Palate: sweet and spicy, vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, cinnamon, hints of white pepper and peppermint and touch of oak char.

Finish: medium long and pretty spicy, pepper, cloves, vanilla and touch of oak.
