Product description
Plans for the Speyside Distillery were approved in 1962, but it took George Christie almost another 30 years to bring it to fruition – the plant first distilled in late 1990.
The small distillery is based in Kingussie, on the south side of Speyside, and produces 600,000 litres of spirit a year from a single pair of stills. Since 2012, the distillery has been owned by privately owned Harvey's of Edinburgh, which has established Asia as a major market for its whisky. Spey Tutinā (Latin for "balance") is made exclusively from whisky aged in ex-bourbon casks. It debuted in 2016 at 46% abv, with later releases bottled at cask strength in small batches. Batch #3 was released in 2020 in a run of 1,500 bottles and won the top prize at the annual World Whisky Awards.
