Berry Bros. & Rudd, a London trading company, was founded in 1690 and initially operated in the wine and food markets.
It has been a supplier to the royal court since the time of George III, and currently employs eight Masters of Wine and has a stock of over 4,000 wines and spirits. Its first whisky hit was Cutty Sark (1923), created for Americans sentenced to Prohibition. The company offers single malt whiskies in the Berry's Own Selection series, appreciated by connoisseurs. This single malt from Orkney, distilled in 2000 (most likely in Highland Park), spent 17 years in cask no. 1 and was bottled at cask strength (56.3% abv) and without chill filtration in 2018.
Nose : heather honey, vanilla, brown sugar, pears, apples, orange peel, green tea, cinnamon, ginger, beeswax and a bit of smoke in the background.
Palate: slightly waxy, honey, vanilla, salted caramel, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, lemon and orange peel, pears, ginger, white pepper, notes of peat and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of honey, vanilla, fruit candy, ripe pears and apples, a touch of ginger and oak.
