Berry Bros. & Rudd, a London trading company, was founded in 1690 and initially operated in the wine and food markets.
It has been a purveyor to the royal court since the time of George III; it now employs eight Masters of Wine and has a stock of more than 4,000 wines and spirits. Its first whisky hit was Cutty Sark (1923), created for Americans sentenced to Prohibition. The company offers single malt whiskies in the highly regarded Berry's Own Selection series. The Tullibardine on display here, distilled in 1993, spent almost a quarter of a century in cask no. 942 and was bottled at 46% abv, unchill-filtered, in 2018.
Nose: vanilla, buttered popcorn, freshly baked bread, oatmeal cookies, green apples, dried flower bouquet, lemongrass, notes of wax and toasted oak.
Palate: slightly waxy, buttered toast, vanilla, breakfast cereals, apples, pears, bananas, lychee, ginger, lemon pepper, notes of hay and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, brown sugar, sweet bread, green apples, ginger, pepper and oak.
