- Braeval Distillery (operating as Braes of Glenlivet until 1994) was built in 1973 by Chivas Bros. then subsidiary of Seagram.
Product description
Braeval Distillery began in 1972 as Braes of Glenlivet (brae being the Gaelic word for “hill”).
In 1994, its owners (Chivas Bros, part of the Canadian Seagram group) changed its name to Braeval to avoid confusion with the Glenlivet distillery. Today, Braeval Distillery is owned by Pernod Ricard and produces over four million litres of distillate a year, almost all of which goes into the group's portfolio of blends, mainly Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers. The Braeval presented here, distilled in August 2009, spent over 12 years in a refill sherry butt no. DL 15378. Bottled at 48.4% abv and without chill filtration by Douglas Laing & Co. in the Old Particular series in November 2021 in an edition of 896 bottles.
