Product description
Springbank began operations in 1828 and was the fourteenth distillery in the Campbeltown region, which was known as the world capital of whisky in the 19th century (at the peak of its popularity, there were 34 distilleries operating there).
Springbank is one of Scotland's most unique distilleries, the only one operating since the first half of the 19th century, which remains the property of the founding family to this day and the only one that distills exclusively from barley malted by itself. The plant produces 3 single malts with different profiles: traditional Springbank, smoky-peated Longrow and delicate, triple-distilled Hazelburn, and the entire process, from malting to bottling, takes place under one roof. Since time immemorial, Springbank editions have been sought after by connoisseurs and collectors of whisky, presented here, part of the Private Bottling series, is undoubtedly the pride of any collection. The whisky distilled on June 2, 1974, spent 28 years in cask no. 1157 and was bottled in 630 bottles on February 25, 2003 at 46% alcohol and without chill filtration. This extraordinary spirit offers the sweetness of tropical fruits "sprinkled" with notes of brine and peat smoke and is today a rare example of the classic Campbeltown single malt of over forty years ago.
