Product description
Tullibardine Distillery is based in the picturesque Perthshire village of Blackford, surrounded by rolling hills.
The first records of alcoholic beverages being produced here date back to the 15th century – in 1488, the newly crowned James IV purchased beer from a local brewery. This brewery was adapted to distill whisky in 1949 by architect William Delme-Evans. In 1971, the distillery became the property of Invergordon Distillers, which doubled the number of stills to four. Twenty years later, Whyte & Mackay acquired all of Invergordon’s assets and included Tullibardine in its blend formula. In the 20th century, Tullibardine single malt was not particularly promoted, until the French company Picard Vins & Spiriteux, which took over the distillery in 2011, invested heavily in marketing and building a rich sales offer.
Tullibardine presented here is an extremely rare single cask edition; distilled in 1965 while the distillery was owned by Brodie Hepburn Ltd., it spent four decades in a #949 hogshead cask and was bottled at cask strength (48.3% abv) and without chill-filtration in May 2005, two years after the distillery was acquired by a group of private investors, in an edition of 199 bottles.
