Product description
Maison Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy.
His son James gave the company the name Jas Hennessy & Co. used today in 1813. In 1971, Hennessy merged with Moët et Chandon to form Moët Hennessy, which in turn was acquired by luxury goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton in 1989, giving birth to LMVH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). Hennessy leads the cognac sales statistics with 7.8 million cases per year (2018), which is almost 40% of the entire sector's turnover. Hennessy VSOP was the first cognac to bear this designation (Very Special Old Pale). It was created at the request of the then Prince Regent, later King George IV, in 1817. The current VSOP Privilège is a blend of approximately 60 eaux-de-vie distilled from the Ugni Blanc grape, aged for up to 15 years.
