Product description
Eigashima Shuzo recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of obtaining its whisky production license (1919), although it took another 40 years for the word to become flesh.
Eigashima Shuzo has been operating since 1888, in its current location, the town of Akashi, about 30 km from Kobe, since 1984. Its main source of income remains sake and shōchu, while whisky is produced seven months of the year. The Akashi blended whisky presented here has been a key item in the company's offering for years; composed of components aged in American oak barrels, it was finished in sherry casks. Few today remember that Eigashima Shuzo was the first Japanese licensed whisky producer (Shinjiro Torii built the Yamazaki Distillery four years later).
