Product description
In the 1950s there were two rum factories operating on the island of Saint Lucia.
They joined forces in 1972 and created Saint Lucia Distillers Group, a company that currently operates the only distillery operating on the island, located in the Roseau Valley. In 2007, a fire destroyed part of the distillery, depriving it of its laboratory and the building where the rum was blended. The sugar cane plantations on the island were eventually replaced by banana plantations, which forced the distillery to import raw material from Guyana. However, the company recently purchased five acres of land, on which a sugar cane plantation was launched.
Rum Chairman's Reserve 2009 is a blend of distillates from column stills and traditional pot stills. All the distillates included in the blend come from the 2009 vintage, and bottling took place in 2020, which means we are dealing with an 11-year-old rum. The distillate was matured in American barrels, in which bourbon had previously matured.
