- Willowbank Distillery was founded by the Baker family in Dunedin (New Zealand South Island) in 1974.
Product description
In 1974, the Baker family built the Willowbank Distillery in Dunedin, on New Zealand's South Island.
The Canadian Seagram Group bought it just seven years later and modernized it, but in 1997 the Canadians ended their adventure with New Zealand whisky; the distillery was sold to beer producer Foster, who soon removed the distilling equipment from there and put the whisky stocks up for auction. The main buyer was the New Zealand Malt Whisky Company, which soon began selling them under the name Milford single malt. The Willowbank presented here is the contents of a bourbon barrel no. 12 filled in 1991; the whisky was bottled at cask strength (63.5% abv) in 2013.
