Product description
Eddu is perhaps the only whisky in the world distilled solely from buckwheat.
It comes from the Distillerie des Menhirs, based in Brittany, founded in 1986, originally producing cider and apple brandy. In 1998, its owner, Guy le Lay, began distilling from locally grown buckwheat and after four years offered Eddu whisky (Eddu means buckwheat in the local dialect). In 2008, Guy retired, leaving the distillery in the hands of his three sons – Ervan, Kévin and Loig. Eddu Gold is a premium version of the local whisky, aged for 10 years in French oak barrels from Limousin. Each year, only 5-6 barrels are approved by the owners for the “Golden Buckwheat” edition.
