Product description
Kilbeggan Distillery is a legitimate contender for the title of Ireland's oldest distillery.
The distillery began operating in 1757 and continued to operate until 1953. It operated as a museum from the mid-1980s, after which it was purchased by John Teeling and renovated, and resumed distilling. It currently belongs to the Beam Suntory group and produces a modest 80,000 liters of malt distillate per year. Under the Kilbeggan brand, we find blended, single malt, single pot still and single grain whiskey, the latest offering (summer 2021) is the Kilbeggan Black presented here. This is a blended whiskey, the formula of which includes a slightly peated single malt and Cooley single grain whiskey (the latter distilled from a mash consisting of 94% corn and 6% barley malt). The components were aged in American oak barrels.
