Product description
Equipped with a 21-metre distillation column, Lochside Distillery began operation in 1957 on the property where the brewery had been located for over a century and a half.
Soon four stills were installed and grain and malt whiskies were produced in parallel. In 1973 the distillery was taken over by Destilerias y Crianza and they focused solely on malt whiskies, which they used to blend their own blends. In 1992 the distillery ceased distilling and the buildings were demolished in 2005. Until the early 1970s Lochside produced malt and grain whiskies, which were often blended before maturation (hence the name "single blend"). The one presented here is Scott's Selection, a whisky distilled in 1962, aged for over 40 years and bottled at cask strength (47.7% abv) in 2006.
