Product description
The Braes of Glenlivet distillery was built in 1972-1973 by Canadian Seagram with the mission of producing malt whisky for blending Chivas, 100 Pipers and Passport. Since 1994, the plant has used the Braeval name, supposedly because the previous one was too associated with the Glenlivet distillery. Pernod Ricard took over Seagram's Scottish assets in 2001 and almost immediately suspended production at Braeval, only resuming it in 2008. The distillery is equipped with six stills and can produce over 4 million liters of distillate per year. The Braes of Glenlivet presented here is the first official edition of this whisky; Distilled in February 1994, the spirit spent a quarter of a century in first-fill bourbon barrels and was bottled at 48% abv in the prestigious "Secret Speyside" series in June 2019, as batch BG/001.
