Product description
The Single Malts of Scotland, a series of whiskies from the Elixir Distillers portfolio, debuted in 2005.
The company was founded by brothers Sukhinder and Raj Singh, whose online store The Whisky Exchange has been operating since 1999 and now offers over 8,000 spirits (as of 2021, it is owned by Pernod Ricard; the amount of the contract was not disclosed). In the fall of 2019, The Single Malts of Scotland were expanded to include the Reserve Cask line. The whiskies included in it are small batch editions blended from several barrels and bottled at 48% ABV. The barrels are selected by Oliver Chilton. The 13-year-old single malt presented here, distilled 2007, comes from an undisclosed distillery in the Lowlands and is a blend of two bourbon barrels and one sherry butt. This whisky was part of the seventh series released in 2021. (Producer's note.)
Aroma: initially spicy, then grapefruit, raisins, grape bubble gum, and mineral notes (rocks washed down with water) complete the overall character.
Taste: freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, crispy butter cookies, after a while intense notes of burnt caramel, like a cake forgotten in the oven.
Finish : slightly tart, like concentrated lemon juice.
