Product description
Distillerie Grallet Dupic is located in the village of Rozelieures in Lorraine. The Grallet Dupic family has been growing cereals and mirabelle plums for five generations, from which they distill eau-de-vie.
Production began in 2003, with the first single malt debuting four years later. Distilled from locally grown barley (most of it from its own fields) malted on site, the company describes itself as the only distillery in France to produce whisky from “peated malt” (the peat is extracted about 5km from the farm). That’s the nature of Lothaire Single Malt, aged in first-fill and refill bourbon barrels and bottled at 44% abv.
Nose : peat smoke, barley malt, vanilla, brown sugar, apples, lemon peel, lapsang souchong tea, roasted nuts and a hint of oak.
Palate: vanilla, caramel, breakfast cereal, toffee, apples, pears, peaches, cinnamon, white pepper and peat smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, with notes of peat smoke, vanilla, milk fudge, orchard fruit, cinnamon, ginger and oak.
